Local Priorities Shoplifting Message

I wanted to provide you an update regarding Shoplifting, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

The team were out and about today on foot patrol, when a male was interrupted using drugs on Ferdinand Street, NW1. He was consequently searched under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act, but nothing was found. He has then provided details in what was a bid to avoid detection. He real identity was known and checks quickly revealed that he was wanted for theft offences. At the time of reporting, he will soon be arrested for a further 18 offences, where products in excess of £10,000 was stolen.

This same individual has popped up at various drugs hot-spots, which you have made us aware of. All of this will see a Criminal Behaviour Order applied for when he attends court. This can include conditions banning him from geographical areas, associations, items in possession etc.
